I am presently employed as a Web Designer. My responsibilities include the design/re-design and administration of the Argos.co.uk website. This involves maintaining the code (XHTML/CSS), improving the layout through CSS, improving the HTML code using current techniques, designing seasonal promotional pages, ensuring current and future content is accessible and bespoke project work. As well as this aspect of my duties, I am also responsible for making sure that all content on the Argos site is accessible.
I am also responsible for designing and implementing HTML emails, online advertisements for sites such as MSN, Orange, Yahoo and Google. This task also involves some Flash work.
I am regarded as the main accessibility contact and technical expert in my field, for the online part of the buiness, it is my duty to ensure that all current and future content is accessible and that alternative content is served should a user not require the preferred technological route. I am also responsible for cross-browser compliance.
I was employed at e-Scenarios as a Web/GUI Designer. I oversaw the overall maintenance and design of the corporate website (www.e-scenarios.co.uk), including keeping the content up to date and the subsequent branding of the company. I also designed the GUI for the online software that was developed in-house.
That aspect of my job involved a lot of code and a lot of testing to make sure everything works the way it should and the desired output is produced across a variety of browsers. It has given me a great in-sight into Java and the associated languages, such as XML and XSLT.
My role at freecom.net was as the company Webmaster. My many duties include managing and design/re-design of the company site, design consultation and implementation, job administration and other numerous tasks. I was also responsible for a small team of designers, this involved administering their day to day workloads, mentoring and generally looking after them.
